Guy Copeland jailed for 12 years for sexual abuse of child

A 59-YEAR-OLD who sexually abused a child over a nine year period has been jailed for 12 years.

Guy Copeland, of Brighton Road, Alvaston, abused the girl from the age of seven to 16-years-old during the 1990s.

His victim came forward and reported it to police in 2011.

Copeland was convicted by a jury at Derby Crown Court of rape, 13 counts of indecent assault and attempted sexual assault. The offences happened in Derby. He must sign the sex offenders register indefinitely and is banned from working with children.
