Half-price city bus travel for jobseekers
JOBSEEKERS will be entitled to reduced fares on Derby buses thanks to a new scheme starting from today.
Passes entitling holders to discount bus tickets will be issued by the Job Centre to unemployed people. In return, Arriva and Trent Barton will give card holders half-price bus travel on journeys within Derby.
It is being run by the council in conjunction with the Job Centre and the two bus firms until March 2015, thanks to Government funding. The scheme will cover Arriva and Trent Barton bus services operating within the Derby City Council area and in the urban areas of South Derbyshire at Stenson Fields and Shardlow Road, next to the city authority's boundary.
Alex Hornby, from Trent Barton, said: "Given the economic climate, it's only right that we at Trent Barton do our bit to assist those looking for work."

“Good point, Derbyperson.
What if anyone found laughing even more than they would normally laugh while on a bus gets charged the full fare or thrown off the bus?”
