Hardyal takes up police deputy role
DERBYSHIRE Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Charles has now appointed Hardyal Dhindsa as his deputy.
A Derby city councillor, the new deputy has spent 30 years fighting drug and domestic abuse.
His experience includes leading the Domestic Abuse programme in Nottinghamshire.
Mr Charles said: "Hardyal's work with Nottinghamshire Probation Trust, his excellent community links and the two years spent with the crime and drugs partnership in Nottingham, leading the drugs programme, will be invaluable. This experience, plus the work he has done on an alcohol treatment programme, will be of great benefit to me and the people of Derbyshire in our fight against crime."

“"The Derbyshire PCC having recruited a Deputy already at £56,000-a-year.
Is now after a Chief Executive and Monitoring Officer. Salary £70,000 - £75,000 p.a.
The Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire is seeking to recruit a Chief Executive, to ensure delivery of his vision, strategy and identified priorities for policing in Derbyshire.

“Sir
Between April2006 and March 2010 I was the Chief Executive of the Crime and Drugs Partnership in Nottingham City and despite Alan Charles' comments, I have no recollection of Hardyl Dhindsa leading the drugs programme. This programme was led by another member of staff in the partnership.

“Whilst I agree that Mr Dhindsa appears to be well qualified for this role, it does sound very much like a 'political' appointment and there must be situations where there will be a conflict of interest. Should he now step down from the City Council - remember Mr Williamson with two jobs both in Derby and Westminster . . . . . . . . . .”

“This all looks very cosy for the Labour Party, looking back to an article from November 5th 2012 when it was announced that Councillor Dhinda would chair the panel that has now accepted him for this well paid job!
