TWO Derbyshire head teachers have attended an event to celebrate "outstanding" schools.

Kate Marsland, of Morley Primary, and Jan Davis, of Longwood Infant School, in Pinxton, attended a gathering held by Christine Gilbert, the Government's chief inspector of education, children's services and skills.

Ms Gilbert praised the pair, who earned themselves a place in the annual list of outstanding schools, published by the Office for Standards in Education.

Mrs Davis said: "There is no real secret. It's just a case of getting a good team of teachers and staff working together with enthusiasm to ensure the children learn and develop to the best of their abilities."

Miss Marsland praised the staff, children and governors at her school, who "have played a key part in our success".

Her school maintained its "outstanding" status for a third time.
