Milly Newton, in her first season in the under-15 girls' category took bronze overall for the campaign.

In the senior men's 10K race, which also incorporated the under-20 and veteran categories, Mark Powell and Chris Rainsford led the team to their best finish of the winter.

In what became a three-horse race between Leicestershire-based athletes at the front, Powell closed the gap on the leaders well on the third and final lap before he finished fourth in 31 minutes and two seconds.

Running almost solo from gun to tape, Rainsford was one place behind in 31.25.

Joe Rainsford (32.39) finished first under-20 and 12th overall.

Ashley Deeming (33.37), rounded off the season with his best finish, 23rd, while Steve Ashmore (37.59), in his North Midlands debut, rounded off the team effort in 67th.

That added up to Heanor finishing second on the day to consolidate third overall behind Leicestershire clubs OWLS and Charnwood AC.

Powell and Chris Rainsford carried off silver and bronze in the individual standings, while Deeming collected bronze for his efforts over the winter in the veteran standings.
