Heavy fog forces flight diversions to East Midlands Airport
FLIGHTS to Birmingham International were forced to divert to East Midlands Airport this morning because of heavy fog.
A flight from Lyon switched course to the airport at 9.45am and another from Aberdeen landed just after 11am.
A spokesman for Birmingham International said the two flights had to be diverted because of the weather and an electrical failure.
He said: "It was a combination of the heavy fog we had here this morning and a failure in our instrument landing system which meant the flights had to be diverted.
"Everything is back up and running now and the fog is clearer.
"There should not be any more diversions taking place."
