Hilton land cup after ace chase
SAJENDRA Thimal's century for Langley Mill may have won him the man of the match award but it was a well-paced knock of 88 not out by Hilton's Joe Webb which ultimately won his side the Evening Telegraph Bayley Cup.
The two sides battled out a brilliant cup final at Alfreton on Sunday, with Hilton chasing down an imposing target of 247-5 set by the Millers in their 46 overs.
Thimal's innings of 114 included seven fours and six sixes and was supplemented by a quick 38 from Jack Scott.
But Hilton got off to a rapid start, not least thanks to Alan Barber's innings of 52, and proved able to keep up with the scoring rate throughout their reply.
Webb's controlled innings kept Hilton going and Martyn Gregson speeded them up with 41 towards the end.
They reached the last over needing two to win and got them with two balls to spare and four wickets in hand.
Scott added 3-43 to his earlier innings for Langley Mill.
