A YOUNG Derby band recording their debut album are getting advice from top bands Kasabian and The Happy Mondays.

Daniel Parkin, 22, whose band, The Getaway Boys, started recording last week, said: "We're really good mates with both bands and they've been giving us some recording tips.

"They've told us to keep things original, be true to ourselves and go our own route."

The Getaway Boys describe their sound as "completely different from everyone else out there". Daniel said: "It's ballsy, indie rock – and each song almost represents a different genre."

Also in the band are Daniel's old friend Ste Pickering, 22, with whom he went to Belper School. They are joined by Nathan Tunnicliffe, 27, and drummer Dan Land, 18.

The Getaway Boys will open for Me My Head at The Royal, Derby, on Sunday. Also performing are The Praha Youth. Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £5 in advance (14-plus only) on 01332 255800.
