“Misuse of communications is a big problem.I have written to various places recommending a change in the way that persons are able to get access to a sim card and can harrass emergency services and persons as they do not have to register to use it.
Imagine if you could get landlines this easily.
You at least have a week or so wait before you get connected on a land line.
Trying to report a nuisance or harrassment type of call when it has emenated from a mobile is futile. You get told that the chances are they will change sim card and harrass you further. Then you get told that it is just easier to have your number changed.
I have heard about emergency services being able to get phones lines disconnected when they deal with hoax calls from adults. Not sure if this is landlines only or mobiles, but with mobiles if they dont block the actual phone then the issue remains that they can simply change the sim and get away with it.”

“At least children have the excuse of not being fully aware of consequences of their actions - what about the large number of ADULTS that ring 999 to report that there are squirrels fighting on their lawn, that they are lost on an unfamiliar ring road, that their car tyre is flat etc etc?”

“Hopefully DFRS will be able to track down these youngsters and give them a harsh warning or two.
Remembering the days as a child one could call 100 and ask the operator to put you through to Busby.
Does anyone remember Busby??
If the offenders are of a quite young age perhaps they could set up a phone service/line or something of a similar nature to combat these hoax calls.
It may cost to set something like this up,but i would imagine over time,it could save emergency services revenue and lives.”
