Homeowner flees after alarm sounds
A HOUSE fire in Alvaston was reported yesterday afternoon.
But when crews arrived at the London Road property, they found the blaze only involved a pan in the kitchen.

The occupant fled the property when its smoke alarms sounded at 4.30pm.
When firefighters went into the house, they found the fire had burnt out.

Crews stayed a short while to ventilate the property.
A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We remind all residents to ensure they have working fire alarms in their homes.
"Our advice is to have them on every floor. They should be checked once a week."
