Hornets' Wilson linked with role at Pride Park
WATFORD's Head of Football Business, Ross Wilson, is believed to be in the frame to fill a 'director-of-football' type of role at Derby County.
Chief executive Tom Glick revealed in May last year that the Rams were looking for somebody to assist with the football operations side of the club.
Derby feel such an appointment will sharpen them up in the transfer market.
It would be a similar role to the one carried out by former chairman of football Adam Pearson before he left to rejoin Hull City in October 2009.
Derby say they will not comment on candidates for the role.
"The position is one we are looking to fill to strengthen the football club but until a final decision is made Derby County will not be discussing potential candidates."
Wilson joined Watford last summer having previously held the same role at Scottish First Division club, Falkirk.
Born and bred in Falkirk, he first worked at his local club as Head of Education and progressed to the position of Head of Football Development.
According to Watford's website, Wilson oversees the day-to-day running of the recruitment and football administration departments and also deals with contractual issues and agency networking.
He is said to work closely with the club's Head of Academy, Nick Cox, and first-team manager Sean Dyche.

“walleyd - "they dont want to spend money" - What would you call the £25m they used to pay off the club's debt then?
When you've invested £25m of your cash, you will be qualified to make such stupid, ill-informed remarks.
There is more to running a club than buying players and giving out huge contracts. It isn't that hard to comprehend. Please have a try at getting your head around it.
Your name is very apt.”

“"Walleyd", Southampton brought Billy Sharp as they are at the top of the league and a financial outlay now could help them make that final push.
Yes it might seem a lack of ambition or it might seem to be financially prudent that Derby dont live beyond their means.
I'm sure that in your house if you have just enough you dont then think, "I know I think I'll buy a ferrari"!!?? Why because you can't AFFORD IT!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“Come on let's be serious. While the majority of us would love to see Igor back, he (and any other high profile candidate) would be expecting a reasonable budget to work with.
There will, at best, be a very limited budget to work with so I'd imagine working at Falkirk and Watford is a perfect grounding
I think you'll find this news a far more realistic indication of this summers transfer budgets than anything Tom Glick will spin to us in the summer to try and maintain season ticket sales.”

“Why dont we secure the services of an 'experienced' number 2 to Clough instead? I mean would Clough Sr have achieved as much as he did without Peter Taylor? I think not, Clough needs some help from another experienced ex manager that has managed at this level and knows the division. Even Forest brought in the ex Donnie manager. He cant keep relying on his mates that before Derby came calling were fitting carpets and stacking shelves in tesco!”

“Fabrizio Ravenelli wasn't exactly 'priceless', was he?!! Truth be told, White Feather nearly cos us the whole club and it was Jim Smith who went beserk with contracts and fees that nearly sent us under, so would I have GSE hand over the purse strings to Bald Eagle? Nope!!
Scout, yes! Bursar, no!!”
