Hospital upgrade granted approval
HOSPITAL bosses have been granted planning permission to update a laundry and improve disabled access.
Babington Hospital's laundry features beams, pipework and trusses which make it difficult to clean. It also becomes very hot in summer due to poor ventilation.
But Amber Valley Borough Council has now granted consent for the walls to be repaired and painted with a self-sterilising paint, the floor replaced and a suspended ceiling added.
In other parts, ramps will be built and handrails painted yellow to make them more visible and to improve access for disabled people.
