A PACK of bloodhounds and hunters on horseback are preparing for an annual manhunt across the Derbyshire countryside.

The Four Shires Bloodhounds will meet at the Market Square, Ashbourne, on Boxing Day before setting off on the 20-mile chase.

They will set off at noon and chase a trained runner through fields around the town and surrounding villages.

Hundreds of spectators are expected to turn out for the event and Four Shires Bloodhounds member Paul Harrison said he hoped the hunt would thrill the crowds.

He added: "It is our favourite event of the year and it is great to see people out supporting the hunt and meeting the hounds."
