BELPER Town have reshuffled their managerial team after joint boss Danny Hudson resigned due to work commitments.

The Nailers say Hudson told the club his availability would be "severely restricted" due to a new job with the Prison Service. He may still register as a player but is likely to only be involved on an emergency basis.

As a result, Andy Carney will now be sole first-team boss and will be supported by two assistant managers – Gary Middleton and experienced defender Mark Barnard.

"I am delighted that Gary and Mark have agreed to join me as part of the management team," said Carney.

"Their knowledge and experience of the game will be invaluable as we develop our new young team.

"Danny's absence will be a major loss. He has been at Belper for over five years and has been one of the most influential players that the club has ever had.

"He was invaluable during our managerial partnership and he still remains a very good player with a lot to offer.

"I understand that he will be signing dual registration with Belper Town and also with Pontefract Collieries, a club that is close to where he will be working."

Former Rotherham United and Doncaster Rovers midfielder Hudson, 31, joined Belper from Halifax Town in the summer of 2004.

He became joint manager along with Carney in November 2006 following the resignation of Ernie Moss.

Belper's latest pre-season friendly ended in a 2-0 defeat at Armthorpe Welfare on Saturday. The Nailers are away to Shirebrook Town tomorrow night.
