Hull and Harrison take the latest spoils at Makins
PHIL Hull and Chris Harrison were the latest winners at Makins Fishery.
Hull landed the only carp of the day to help him win the open match on lake two.
-

Five-time world champion Alan Scotthorne.
The carp weighed 5lb and bumped Hull's total up to 12lb 14oz.
He caught it on his first cast at peg 11, using method feeder but then did not get a bite in the next two hours.
As a result of this, Hull switched to pole and caster, adding 7lb 14oz of roach to stay ahead of closest challenger Colin Perry.
The latter fished long pole at peg five and banked 12lb 8oz of roach, Ian Hughes taking third with 9lb.
Harrison won the open contest on the lizard with a 12lb total.
Only three carp were caught, so silver fish dominated the nets.
After catching a few roach on method feeder, he opted to switch to the pole at eight metres out and used chopped worm and caster to catch steadily.
Several perch weighing around the 2lb mark also featured in his net, as well as roach.
Runner-up Gary Coton only had two bites on bomb and corn – and each produced a carp as he finished with 10lb 12oz.
Jason Shirley was third with 9lb 10oz, Hull was fourth with 7lb 6oz and John Adamson took fifth place with 6lb 12oz.
ALAN Glover won the Justin O'Reilly open match after netting 43lb.
He caught carp after using maggot on the pole at peg 21 on Cooper's Lake in Weston on Trent.
John Tant was the closest challenger after catching 32lb at peg 30, his net featuring carp and bream using the method feeder.
Sean Gorden was third with 31lb of carp, which he caught using meat on the method.
FIVE world champions will help mark the opening of a new tackle shop in Heanor this weekend.
Sam Wildsmith, who for years has run the Mill Tackle shop at Station Road in Langley Mill, has moved to considerably larger premises, a 17,000 square foot showroom at 84-86 Mansfield Road in Heanor.
Five-time world champion Alan Scotthorne, Sandra Scotthorne, Tommy Pickering, Matt Godfrey and Steve Ringer will be attending an open day to celebrate the move on Saturday from 10am-3pm.
They will be available to chat and offer advice to anglers.
A FLY-FISHING seminar will be held at Hassop Hall near Bakewell on Saturday, February 4.
Don Stazicker, who is a member of the Foremark Fly Fishers' Association, will lead the seminar, which will also include presentations by Stuart Crofts and Steve Yeomans.
The day will be split into two, with the group divided up for three sessions in the morning.
Crofts will give a talk on entomology, Stazicker will speak about setting up tackle for river fishing and Yeomans will be discussing rivers in general.
After lunch, there will be an interactive session in which a DVD will be shown that will highlight a number of different scenarios and all three river experts will explain how each situation should be approached and dealt with.
The cost is £97 per person and includes a two-course lunch and refreshments during the morning and afternoon sessions.
Anyone who is interested in attending the seminar should phone 0845 5642348 or email don@stazicker.co.uk by this Saturday.
