Indoor cricket: Brailsford keep up 100% record
BRAILSFORD continue to set the pace in the Derbyshire County Cricket Club Indoor League at the Gateway Centre.
They made it five wins from five in the latest round of matches with a win over last season's champions, Aston-on-Trent, who are struggling this time around.
Lian Wharton was again in fine form with the bat, hitting 41 not out as Brailsford reached 147-4.
That was 42 too many for Aston.
They are now one of four sides on only two points as a gap starts to open between the top four and bottom five.
But it is Swarkestone who are stranded at the foot of the table after losing their first four matches.
They could muster only 75-5 against Rolls-Royce, who cruised home with only one wicket down.
Spondon are still the biggest challengers to Brailsford, as they also have a 100% record, while having played one game less.
Joe Ashdown was again in fine all-round form, hitting 40 not out in their 120-3 against Elvaston and then taking 2-27 as, despite 35 not out from Paul Birch, Elvaston finished 13 runs short.
Lullington Park are second in the table after a 36-run win over Ilkeston.
They made 117-2 against Ilkeston, who were bowled out for 81.
Alvaston & Boulton, the only side with a 100% record in Division Two, were without a game, so Allestree were ale to take over at the top of the table, thanks to a narrow win over Marehay.
Allestree made 136-3, then, despite 49 not out from Ady Vickerage, Marehay finished eight runs short.
Spondon B scored their first win of the season and sent opponents West Hallam to the bottom of the table.
They kept West Hallam to 98-4 and knocked them off for four wickets.
Stainsby Hall also landed their first win, hitting 118-3 against Elvaston B and keeping them to 78 in reply, David Smyth scoring 48 not out and taking 3-18.
