BRAILSFORD closed the gap at the top of Derbyshire Indoor Cricket League Division One when they beat leaders Spondon by two wickets.

Skipper Matt Dowling made an unbeaten 35 to leave Brailsford only two points behind their rivals.

Lullington comprehensively beat last year's champions Aston by six wickets to move into third place.

Improving Elvaston beat Nutbrook with Matt Archer scoring 56 not out, even though 18-year-old Ben Eaton scored 56 in reply.

Dave Smit took 3-43 as Ilkeston beat Swarkestone.

A&B clinched the Division Two title when they beat Marehay by three wickets, with Darryl Walker 28 not out and Dave Lewis 25 not out.

Stainsby clinched second spot after Allestree's Ben Sarton scored 75, the division's highest score, only to be surpassed by Mark Greaves' unbeaten 79 – 30 coming off the final over.

Elvaston B beat Spondon B by 28 runs with Jake Harrold 64 not out, as James Rigg hit 53 for Spondon in vain.

Rolls-Royce B beat West Hallam by three wickets with 14 year old Rabid Ali 30 not out.
