Injured Vaughan returns to Everton

DERBY County have been dealt yet another injury blow.

On-loan striker James Vaughan has returned to Everton for consultation over his knee injury.

Vaughan,

who is with the Rams until January 1, suffered a dead leg on his debut

in the defeat by Crystal Palace and was an unused substitute in

Tuesday's 6-1 thrashing by Cardiff City.

Rams boss Nigel Clough had hoped the 21-year-old would be fit to face Sheffield Wednesday today but his knee has not settled.

Paul Dickov comes in for his first start and partners Rob Hulse up front.

Dean Leacock has not recovered from a hamstring injury and his place at centre-back goes to Jay McEveley.

Lee Hendrie drops to the bench.

Derby's crippling injury list continues to grow.

Vaughan,

Leacock, Paul Connolly, Miles Addison, Paul Green, Stephen Pearson,

Kris Commons, Steve Davies and Chris Porter are all sidelined, along

with young defenders Mitch Hanson and Mark O'Brien.

Jake Buxton was among the substitutes less than two weeks after underpoing a hernia operation.
