Inquest opens after body found in wood
AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a Derby woman whose body was found in a wood.
PC Adrian Harris told Derby and South Derbyshire Coroner's Court he discovered the body of Gillian Freshwater in Bradley Woods, near Ashbourne, at 11pm last Wednesday.
Her family had previously called the police after becoming concerned that she was missing from her home in Birdwood Street, Normanton.
The 45-year-old self-employed maintenance worker's body was formally identified by her brother, Terence Freshwater, at the Royal Derby Hospital at 4.50pm the following day. Deputy coroner Louise Pinder adjourned the inquest pending further inquiries.
