JCB invests £8m in UK factories
DIGGER manufacturer JCB has embarked on an £8 million investment programme at its UK factories.
The firm, which has a factory in Foston, is investing in new machine tools, which it said will improve component quality and production efficiency.
Half of the money is being spent on machinery for its Hydraulic Business Unit, which is based at the company’s world headquarters at Rocester.
The new equipment, which will be fully operational next month, includes lathes, friction welders, robotic welding cells and an automated assembly cell.

More than £1 million is being spent at the JCB Heavy Products factory in Uttoxeter to increase capacity.
And a further £2 million is being invested at JCB Transmissions in Wrexham.
The company said it was investing in its factories in preparation for growth in demand for its machines across the world.
Chief executive Alan Blake said: “JCB has ambitious plans to grow its business and investing heavily in our manufacturing capability to increase capacity and enhance quality is key to meeting our expansion goals.”
