Last year, pupils from the school, in Farmhouse Road, proved to be word-perfect after scooping three first places for their performances.

The annual festival – now in its 105th year – will take place from April 19 to May 11, when classes in a variety of sections will take place at venues across the city, including the Guildhall Theatre and Derby Cathedral.
