LANGEVELDT BACK IN THE DERBYSHIRE ATTACK FOR TRIP TO WARWICKSHIRE
THE final quarter of the LV County Championship season starts for Derbyshire, with promotion still a possibility.
They are away to second-placed Warwickshire tomorrow (11am) and another positive result to follow their victory over Middlesex almost two weeks ago would leave Derbyshire really fancying their chances.
Charl Langeveldt will return to lead the bowling attack after being rested for the last two Pro40 League matches but the game has come a little too soon for two players on their way back from injury.
Wicketkeeper Jamie Pipe has returned to training following his broken finger and Tom Lungley bowled for the seconds at Derby yesterday but neither will play at Edgbaston.
Head of cricket John Morris will assess the fitness of Dan Birch, who has a back problem, but encouraging performances in the one-day games from Dan Redfern and John Sadler gives him options in the batting.
Morris has stressed to his side that they do not need to go all out for victory against Warwickshire.
"It's not the situation that we must win this game," he said. "Defeat isn't even in our thought process and, if we can play solid cricket like we did against Middlesex, we'll be happy.
"It's everything we wanted really – to come to the last quarter of the Championship season and we've got our hat in the ring.
"We've got half a chance."
