Showers made it a stop-start morning for Derbyshire in the first innings of their LV County Championship match against Glamorgan at the County Ground.

There were two stoppages before lunch but in the 18 overs that were possible Derbyshire moved on to 121-4 in reply to Glamorgan's 348.

Dan Birch was out in the third over of the day when he drove loosely at a ball from Adam Shantry and was well caught by Alex Wharf at cover for 28.

Greg Smith added only six before he pulled a ball from Jason Gillespie straight to Gareth Rees at square leg to make it 101-4.

Wavell Hinds (20 not out) and Dan Redfern (19 not out) made sure there was no other loss before lunch.
