`Lady Godiva' leads protest over village
A MODEL has ridden through a Derbyshire village like Lady Godiva to highlight a campaign against a housing development.
Campaign group Green Squeeze was formed to battle against road links to a proposed new village for the former Stanton Ironworks site, near Ilkeston.

Members are worried the 3,000-home village, which would have its own district centre, would cause traffic problems and harm businesses.
Yesterday, the group enlisted Vicki Halsey to ride through Stanton-by-Dale as Erewash borough councillors arrived for a preview of the plans.
Group member Fiona Starbuck said the idea was to make sure the developer and the council know people are “deeply concerned” about the development.
She said: “Nine hundred years ago Lady Godiva rode naked through the streets of a Midlands community to draw attention to the plight of ordinary people facing indifferent officialdom.”
She added: “It was vital the councillors realised the gravity of what they were looking at.”
