THREE matches to go and Matt Lineker's four-point lead in the Premier League Player of the Year standings remains in place, despite another week passing by without the Ockbrook & Borrowash opener managing to have a significant impact on a game.

Spondon all-rounder Joe Ashdown was the principal mover in the standings this week, taking two points in his team's defeat at Chesterfield to move into third place, which will win him a cash prize if he stays there.

Chesterfield captain Alex Hibbert took three points in that game and still has a chance of challenging for the prizes, especially if his team can maintain the recent good form which has seen them move into third place in the Premier League.

LEADING STANDINGS:

21: Matt Lineker (Ockbrook).

17: Kevin Leatherday (Ilkeston).

16: Joe Ashdown (Spondon).

14: Johnny Owen (Ockbrook), Matt Dowman (Quarndon).

13: Ahmed Amla (Lullington), Alex Hibbert (Chesterfield).

THERE were three seven-wicket hauls in the County League over a weekend which was generally pretty good news for bowlers.

But they were all topped by one eight-wicket effort in Division 6N, as Belper Meadows thirds captain Jon Borland bowled his side to a narrow six-run win over neighbours Belper Amateurs seconds.

Meadows had scored 161-9 in their 46 overs and the Amateurs certainly had time to get the runs, as their last wicket fell with six overs still to be bowled.

Borland took 8-56 to win the Owzat Cricket Bowler of the Week award and a £15 cricket equipment voucher.

Pilsley's run machine, Saeed Bin Nasir, began the season by winning the first four Batsman of the Week prizes.

And, although he has continued to have a hugely prolific season, Bin Nasir had been pipped by another batsman for every other award since – until this weekend.

It will be a small consolation for Bin Nasir that his 141 wins this week's prize, because his side were all out for 211 chasing Chesterfield seconds' 222-5.

Paul Bailey, of Langley Mill, came close, scoring 140 as his side rattled up 292-5 at home to Darley Abbey in Division 3N.

But it was an afternoon to forget for Elvaston fourths in Division 6S, as they were bowled out for 14 in 8.5 overs by Derby Congs seconds.

Shahzad Nawaz took 5-8 for Congs and held two catches for Wahid Hussain, who took 3-0 in three overs.
