CRICKET: Ockbrook & Borrowash's consolation for seeing the Beechwood Derbyshire Premier League taken from under their noses by Chesterfield last week is a fourth successive Derbyshire Premier Cup.

They were comfortable winners against Nottinghamshire Premier League side Kimberley Institute in the final at Spondon.

Batting was not an easy matter with plenty of dampness still around as Ockbrook compiled what, on a drier day, might have been a modest 214 all out with one ball of their 50 overs unused.

Opener Matt Lineker scored 59 from 95 balls and it was to prove the highest score of the day. Charlie Ault's 32 from 42 balls, with three fours and two sixes, then Gareth Young's 37 from 43 balls added some impetus, while Joshua Mangan was the pick of the Kimberley bowlers with 3-22 from 10 overs.

When Kimberley batted, however, wickets fell at regular intervals after an opening partnership of 44 was ended by Ockbrook captain Neil Smith, on his way to 2-19 from seven overs.

Spinners Lian Wharton (3-36) and Jake Needham (2-29) allowed Kimberley little respite and opener Michael Blatherwick's 33, which took him 75 balls, was their top score as they succumbed for 136 in 44.5 overs.

Lineker had the final say with the ball, taking the last two wickets for six runs from 4.5 overs to seal the man-of-the-match award.
