“sharon - if schools in less affluent areas have higher absentee rates (as they evidently do), what should we read into that?
Surely those parents can't afford to take their kids on holiday during term time so attendances should be higher? Perhaps the schools don't try as hard to prevent absences - or is it that the parents don't care as much about their kids education? - please give us the benefit of your wisdom.....or better still, don't have a 'pop' and instead praise the kids, teachers, governors and parents at Littleover for setting an example that the rest of our schools can try to emulate...”

“This is impressive, but also be reflective of the affluence of the area and that parents are able to afford to take their children on holiday in the school holidays .”
