THERE are long delays on a stretch of the M1 due to an accident.

Motorists are facing delays on the southbound section of the motorway, between junction 29 at Bolsover and junction 30 at Chesterfield.

The delays are due to an earlier accident on that carriageway. Tailbacks currently stretch to junction 32 at Thurcroft.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said the carriageway was closed following the accident, which took place at 12.40pm and involved numerous vehicles. One woman suffered minor neck injuries.

The carriageway was reopened at 1.40pm.
