MACHINE OF CHOICE FOR THE BEST SPORTS SURFACES AROUND THE WORLD
THE history of mower manufacturer Dennis can be traced back to 1922, although it only arrived in Derbyshire in the early 1980s.
Ian Howard's father, who was in the sub-contract manufacturing business, purchased the brand back in 1981 and it was moved from Guildford, in Surrey, to Mickleover.

Mr Howard said: "We were making components for other people but realised that there were better margins to be made making our own parts for our own products.
"We brought the company to Derby and set about redeveloping the machines."

Since then, Dennis has become one of the world's best regarded mowers, the machine of choice for the best sports surfaces around the world.
Parent company Howardson purchased Sisis in early 2011 to give the business a real edge in the market by being able to offer its customers everything they needed for turf maintenance.
While Dennis only produces mowers, Sisis makes all the other machinery required for keeping turf and artificial sports surfaces in pristine condition.
Founded in 1932, Sisis makes scarifiers to remove dead matter, moss and weeds from turf; seeders, aerators and brushes.
Formerly based in Macclesfield, in Cheshire, it has been relocated to Kirk Langley.
