MG sales up as brand enjoys track success
EVERYTHING is going magnificently for MG. The British brand is enjoying a renaissance with sales growing in tandem with success in the British Touring Car Championship series.
Sales are up thanks, in part, to the expansion of the dealer network, which now includes Beechwood at Siddals Road, Derby.

MG cars have really taken off since the start of sales with the company gearing up to launch even more models in the UK.
The MG6 hatchback and Magnette saloon have captured the attention of British buyers by being both great to drive and well-priced. These are large family cars which are also highly equipped.
MG was always characterised as being a producer of more affordable sporting cars. It's also a brand with a famous history, stretching back 88 years and including some outstanding models.

The MG6 is the first new model to wear the famous octagon badge since 1995. It has been joined by the Magnette saloon, with MG Motor UK, in Birmingham, promising these will be the first of a whole new family of models.
Next we will see a small hatchback, to be called the MG3, and later the MG5, to provide fresh competition for the likes of Ford's Focus and Vauxhall's Astra.
The all-new MG3 is expected in dealers next year with design, engineering and final assembly being carried out in the UK.
The British design team is to be congratulated on producing a great-looking car in the MG6. It looks sporty and is a spacious car that offers ample room in the rear for three adults.
Compact rear suspension, which contributes to the great road holding and handling of the model, has allowed MG to offer up to 498-litres boot capacity in the saloon.
The suspension also does a fine job in ironing out the bumps and on motorways the car is a rock-solid cruiser.
All versions are powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged and intercooled petrol engine.
Improved production methods have brought better fuel economy, reduced CO2 emissions and lower road tax.
The CO2 figures of the 2012 cars have dropped from 184g/km to 174g/km, reducing the Vehicle Excise Duty by one band. This saves £50 on the first year's road tax and £20 a year after that.
Fuel economy has improved with combined figure increasing from 35.6mpg to 37.7mpg across the range.
A 1.9-litre turbo-diesel is currently being developed and it is planned to have diesel-engined demonstrators in showrooms by December.
Electronically-controlled air conditioning, an in-car entertainment system with MP3 capability plus USB and AUX-in sockets are standard along with body-coloured mirrors and a rear spoiler. SE and TSE cars also have satellite navigation, a rear parking aid and cruise control.
The TSE deal includes leather upholstery, sports seats at the front, colour display for the sat-nav system, a rear view camera, Bluetooth and a dual-zone climate control air conditioning.
Factor in low insurance group ratings and no-interest finance on entry-level MG6 models with no nasty final balloon payments from MG dealers and MG6 range represents an interesting proposition for anyone in the market for a more affordable sporting saloon or hatchback.
