MP backs campaign to end unnecessary testing on animals
A CAMPAIGN group for animal welfare has praised a Derby MP for supporting its campaign to end cosmetics testing.
Chris Williamson has declared his support for the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection's No Cruel Cosmetics campaign to end animal testing for toiletries and cosmetic products.
The group launched the campaign amid concerns about a delay to the EU ban on the import and sale of animal-tested products in 2013.
More than 15,000 supporters have already signed the campaign petition, including Mr Williamson.
The Derby North MP has also vowed to Clean Up Cruelty by ensuring that all cleaning products used in his constituency office are free from animal testing.
He said: "I very much support the BUAV campaigns because I want to eliminate unnecessary cruelty to animals."
