A MAN in Blackburn has been arrested on suspicion of terror offences thought to be connected with arrests made in Derby in August.

The 19-year-old was held earlier this morning and police have since begun searching his bedsit above a takeaway in the Lancashire town.

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said: "The arrest is the culmination of a counter terrorism operation between Lancashire Constabulary and Greater Manchester Police Counter Terrorism Unit."

No further details about the teenager's suspected activities have been released by police but it is understood that today's arrest is connected with previous arrests in Derby.

Krenar Lusha, 29, was arrested at his home in Moore Street, Normanton, in August.

He has been accused of possessing 4kg of potassium nitrate – a critical component in gunpowder.

He also faces four charges of possessing instructions on how to make bombs.
