A MAN broke his ankle when he fell from a city centre bridge on to the A52 due to a fit.

Police were called shortly before 7am on Saturday after he fell from the walkway between the Jurys Inn hotel and St Mary's Church.

St Alkmund's Way was closed in both directions as the man was rescued. He was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital.

“He was so unlucky to fall - I thought that the sides of the bridge would have been high enough.
