Massive Darley Park party plan to welcome the Olympic torch
DARLEY Park will host a "spectacular" London 2012 party celebrating the arrival of the Olympic torch in Derby, organisers say.
The city is one of only ten UK locations chosen to host the flame on a Friday night.

When the announcement was made in May, delighted city leaders said it meant the celebrations in Derby could last the whole weekend.
Now, after months of discussions, details of a 48-hour party have been revealed.
To welcome the torch to Derby, on June 29, a "London 2012 Evening Celebration" will be held at Darley Park.
The free event will include a colourful two-hour show with singers, musicians, dancers and stage acts.
The first part will include entertainment organised by London 2012 organisers Locog and its sponsors.
The second part will showcase Derbyshire talent.
The lighting of the cauldron will follow.
Rory Slater, Derbyshire 2012 Legacy Co-ordinator, said the event had been chosen as one of five in the country that will be given extended television coverage.
"There is no better opportunity for Derby to broadcast to the world what is so great about the city and wider county," he said.
The torch will stop at Darley Park overnight before making its way to Burton on the Saturday morning.
The party will not end there. On the Saturday evening, the annual Darley Park Classical Concert will take place, followed by a fireworks display.
The free event – which attracts up to 30,000 people – is usually in September but is being moved to June to coincide with the Olympic celebrations.
Mr Slater said: "These are two wonderful events that will show what the city has to offer, while generating significant economic value to Derby and Derbyshire.
"It's a great opportunity for people to celebrate a fantastic event not likely to be repeated in their lifetime."
Claire Davenport, director of leisure and culture at Derby City Council, said she expected activities would also take place elsewhere in the city.
She said: "Ideas so far include starting off the party atmosphere in the Derby Market Place on Friday afternoon and, after the London 2012 Darley Park stage show finishes, organising a procession back into the city centre for more entertainment."

“Could Feste be part of this too? Many Feste events have been fantastic - as was the building light ups last year (the cathedral and Quad were wonderful)”
