SHIRLAND MW almost threw the game away as they played Holmsfield Arms in the second round of the Derbyshire Junior Cup (North).

They were 5-0 up at half-time, with goals from Dale Hegarty (2), Ian Hursthouse (2) and Gus Brown, but Arms fought back with four second-half goals to set up a tense finish.

In the league, Riddings Rovers defeated Ashbourne 4-3.

Super sub Ricky Ashmore came off the bench to score a second-half winner for Riddings.

Black Hippo managed five goals at home to Hilcote United but still ended on the losing side.

Tom Jackson top-scored for Hippo with a hat-trick that included a penalty.

Jame Uphill and Toby Rice scored the other two goals.
