Matlock & District League: Shirland hold nerve

SHIRLAND MW showed their mettle by winning their Derbyshire Junior Cup tie against Woolley Moor United on penalties.
It was a controversial goal that separated the two sides at half-time.
Shirland keeper Daz Shaw was injured in a clash with a Moor forward, who netted while Shaw lay injured on the ground.
Despite the keeper needing five minutes’ treatment, the goal stood.
Shirland levelled after the break through Ian Hursthouse but neither side could find a winner.
Shirland eventually progressed to the quarter-finals by winning 4-2 on penalties.
Darley Dale Lions were beaten in the Manor Pharmacy Shield, losing 4-2 to Hilcote United.
Darley’s goals came from Ashley Webster and Liam Keeton, while Ant Butler, Dean Guy and Daniel Noakes (2) replied.
Scott Martin scored a hat-trick as Matlock Town Youth beat Harveys Bar 6-1 in the league.
A Harvey own goal plus strikes from Tom Jackson and Martyn Taylor made up the rest of the scoring.
