Matlock woman conned her mother out of almost £30,000
A MATLOCK woman who conned her own mother out of almost £30,000 has been handed a suspended jail sentence.
Janet Anne Lakhani, 60, and her husband Amyn Abdullah Hasham Lakhani, 50, took £29,671.83 from care funds belonging to the 86-year-old.
They also applied for credit cards in the pensioner’s name and ran up bills of £17,000.
The couple, from Snitterton Road, were both jailed for 36 weeks, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to fraud.

“So crime does pay, £29,671.83 stolen plus the £17,000 they ran up on credit cards in her mother's name adds up to a tidy sum and they escape jail. Don't need to be fleeced by criminals breaking in or posing as some workman to rob her when her own daughter and son in law can steal it instead. Despicable pair, they should be in prison.”
