Midlands Regional Alliance: Cromford seize chance

HEAVY rain in midweek left pitches soggy and several games postponed in the Midlands Regional Alliance.
League action was further reduced due to a number of clubs being involved in various cup competitions.
Cromford seized their chance to progress in the Premier Division by beating Chellaston 8-1.
Adrian Kershaw led the scoring with a hat-trick, with Anthony Fay, Dan Wildgoose, Craig Spencer, David Taylor and Scott Ryder netting the rest of the goals.
Derby Rolls-Royce and Newmount shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
Jamie Astley and Harvey Brown scored for Royces.
Holbrook St Michaels won 2-1 at Belper United to move closer to the top.
Andy Calladine scored the only Belper goal.
Allenton United, the Premier Division leaders, beat Holbrook’s Reserves 3-0 in the Challenge Cup.
The Saints missed a penalty and had a man sent off to add to their misery.
Carl Allsopp, Tom Donnachie and Paul Swallow notched the Allenton goals.
Also through are Melbourne Dynamo, who beat Castle Donington Town 3-1.
First Division side Mickleover RBL beat Premier side Willington 1-0, while Matlock Town Reserves led Rowsley 86 2-0 before late strikes from the North Derbyshire side sent the tie into extra time.
Rowsley eventually won 5-2 with goals from Tim Baker (2), Nick Baker, Anthony Porter and Steve Walker.
Wirksworth Town beat Whaley Bridge 4-2 in the Derbyshire FA Divisional Cup (North).
And in the only game to be played in Division One, Derbyshire Amateurs beat Ripley Town 3-0.
