Millions invested to bring mobile service to city

DERBY is to become the latest city to get access to the fastest mobile service, 4G – with network EE investing £3.8m in the city.

Network EE – which runs the T-Mobile and Orange brands – will be rolling out the service from tomorrow.

It said businesses and residents will be able to benefit from fibre broadband and mobile speeds typically five times faster than 3G. Derby is part of the second wave of cities to get involved with the new mobile technology, since the launch of the service on October 30.

George Cowcher, chief executive of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, said: "In an increasingly global economy, having access to high-speed broadband is absolutely crucial to the future development, growth and success of our businesses.
