Mohammed Tariq jailed for seven years for Johnny Assani manslaughter
A 26-YEAR-OLD has been convicted of playing a part in the killing of Derby father Johnny Assani.
Today, a jury found Mohammed Tariq guilty of the manslaughter, after deliberating on the verdict for more than seven hours.
He was jailed for seven years.
The 43-year-old father was left lying, unconscious and bleeding, on the ground in Walbrook Road, after being punched and kicked by up to 11 men.

Mr Assani, of the Pear Tree area, died in hospital the following day, on August 15 last year.
Tariq, of Walbrook Road, Derby, is the third person to be convicted of causing Mr Assani’s death.
In March, Tariq’s brothers, Mohammed Shahid and Mohammed Rafiq, known as Tahir, were convicted of the offence.
Tariq was not tried until now because he “went to ground” after the incident, and was not arrested until February 8 this year.

“Absolutely disgusting, severn years for taking a life?!! Justice done..? i don't think so... ! on manslaughter cases i believe its at the judges discretion what the sentence is rather than mandatory life sentence with murder.. this is as good as! This individual and others involved should have been made an example of... even a life sentence wouldnt do justice to what these animals have done!
I am asiain myself! race aside... doesnt matter what colour any of us are.. such behaviour in todays society is completely unacceptable, 7 years..! not enough in my opinion. lock them up throw away the key and let them rot.. they dont deserve to walk the streets of Derby again or any city...

“Good job I'm not on the jury as it took me about 7 milliseconds to find him guilty - what kind of baloney is 'Erm, yeah I don't know why my skin was under his fingernails, I borrowed my bro's bobble hat once, innit guv'. Not to mention he absconded for 6 months odd cos he's frightened of the nasty men in prison.
Good job I'm not a judge either, as I've had set a worrying precedent when he came out with this tripe by bashing my hammer then and there and sending him down for some hard time!
