AN ELDERLY motorist was declared dead after his car left the road and ended up in a hedge.

Police said the car ended up on its driver's side, trapping the man, who had to be dragged through the passenger window shortly before noon yesterday on the A6096 between Spondon and Ilkeston.

Paramedics took the man to hospital, where he was declared dead. He has not yet been named.
