1 VAUXHALL'S all-new full-size convertible the Cascada launches the company into a fourth new sector in a year, following on from its Ampera, Mokka and ADAM models. Vauxhall is positioning the soft-top in the C-sector due to its competitive pricing. The Cascada range, which arrives in showrooms next month, will start from just £23,995 on the road – nearly £8,000 less than an Audi A5 Cabriolet.
2 LESS really is more in the new Audi A1 and A3 TFSI Cylinder-on-Demand (CoD) models, which by cutting down on unnecessary mechanical effort manage to snap at the heels of TDi counterparts with economy figures of up to 60.1mpg. It is capable of making a near seamless switch between two-cylinder and four-cylinder operation in as little as 13 milliseconds.
3 THE all-new Ford Kuga comes with a new intelligent all-wheel-drive system – perfect to handle the mix of road conditions the UK is currently experiencing. Its Ford-engineered system evaluates road conditions every 16 milliseconds – about 20 times faster than the blink of an eye – and adjusts the power split from the front wheels to the back to give drivers precise handling and traction.
4 THE new Skoda Octavia has been awarded five stars for its high level of safety in the Euro NCAP crash tests. The new Octavia will be introduced for European markets in the coming weeks. The Czech car manufacturer also presented the new Skoda Octavia Combi for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show.
