BORROWASH Victoria had to wait until the 66th minute before breaking the deadlock in this FA Vase second round encounter.

The opening 45 minutes were evenly balanced, with both sides having their fair share of possession but goalscoring opportunities were few and far between.

Vics began to take control in the second half and they were awarded a penalty that would give them a ticket to the next round.

Callum Thompson was brought down and Andy Mottershead scored with a well-taken spot kick.

The last 20 minutes was a frantic affair, with Northampton putting Borrowash under pressure.

Home keeper Steve Smith stood up to the task and, on the final whistle, there was a lot of relief for everyone in the Borrowash camp.

Borrowash are now in the last 64 of the competition and hoping for a home tie on December 8.

LONG Eaton United's FA Vase second round clash at Southam United and Graham Street Prims' East Midlands Counties League game at Anstey Nomads were postponed.
