Murder squad officers' photo appeal over death of dad

POLICE have released a photograph of a man who they are trying to trace in connection with the murder of a Derby father.

Dad-of-two Johnny Assani, 43, was attacked in Walbrook Street, Pear Tree, on August 14 between 3pm and 3.20pm.

He was taken to Royal Derby Hospital but was transferred to the Queen's Medical Centre, in Nottingham. He died the next day.

Police want to speak to Mohammed Tariq. They say he is also known as Rafiq Tariq, Tariq Rafiq or Tariq Mohammed.

Three men have been charged with the murder of Mr Assani, of Harrington Street, Pear Tree. Mohammed Shahid, 33, and Mohammed Rafiq, 32, both of Walbrook Road, Derby, and Mohammed Zahid, 32, of Brunswick Street, Derby, have been remanded in custody and will appear in court later this month.

Police want to hear from anyone who knows the whereabouts of Mr Tariq.
