BYGONES has received an appeal for information about a windmill.

While surfing the internet, Frank Wigginton came across an old article we published about the grade one listed Cat and Fiddle windmill.

We told how Melvyn Richardson had spent £250,000 keeping the building in working order since buying it in 1980.

Mr Wigginton said: "Since reading the piece, I have been wondering if this is the same windmill that belonged to a farm of the same name near West Hallam, Ilkeston.

"The reason for my interest is that I and my cousin were evacuated to the farm during the Second World War and played in a windmill which was not far away from where we were staying.

"If my memory serves correctly, I have always believed the farmers were a Mr and Mrs Bacon."
