Neil White's film of the week: Robot And Frank
ROBOT AND FRANK
Frank Langella, brilliant as the American president in the much-acclaimed Frost/Nixon, is terrific in pretty much every picture he appears.
-

And so it proves again in this offbeat comedy drama, set in the near future when technology has moved on to the point that robots can act as butlers.
Hunter (James Marsden) has bought his dad Frank (Langella) one because he is concerned about his memory lapses.

At first, Frank is horrified but gradually he starts to see the merits in having the robot around (but not necessarily for the reasons his son had in mind).
This movie is a lot sharper than one might imagine and there are some neat little twists.
Langella is aided by an excellent cast which also includes Susan Sarandon and Liv Tyler.
It wouldn't work, however without the excellent script by Christopher D Ford and the light-touch direction of Jake Schreier.
His debut feature shows huge promise and is well worth a night out.
