New Archbishop is congratulated by Bishop of Derby
THE Bishop of Derby has congratulated the new Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, on his appointment.
Dr Alastair Redfern said that he would be prayed for across the Diocese of Derby.
He said: "I welcome his appointment. He is a person of outstanding gifts who will bring appropriate leadership for the next chapter of our church's history.
"I am sure that the whole diocese will join me in praying God's blessing on him."

The Archbishop spoke of the "massive sense of privilege" of being one of those responsible for the leadership of the Church of England.
He said: "To be nominated to this post is both astonishing and exciting. It is something I never expected."
The Bishop of Derby will join the current Archbishop of Canterbury for Dr Rowan Williams' last meeting of the General Synod in London in 10 days time.
