New chief executive for the police and crime commissioner's office
A CHIEF executive has been appointed for the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
David Peet was selected for the post after a recruitment process and will take up the post in April.
Mr Peet, previously deputy chief executive of Northamptonshire Police Authority, said: “I am, naturally, delighted, and am looking forward to working with Commissioner Alan Charles and his team as we all learn to tread new ground under the new legislation.
“Since the Police and Crime Commissioner elections last November we have seen new ways of working with regard to policing governance and there are more to come. It’s an exciting, and challenging, period of change bringing new opportunities for the police and community safety partners, and I am proud to be part of it.”

Commissioner, Mr Charles said: “I am very pleased that we have found a chief executive of David’s undoubted calibre. He comes with an impressive background of strong leadership and organisational change – skills which will be invaluable in the work we are doing regarding policing, partnership working and crime within Derbyshire.”
Mr Peet, who will be paid £70,000, will be involved with supporting the delivery of the Commissioner’s police and crime plan and ensuring that the monitoring and community engagement roles of the Commissioner are fulfilled. He will also be responsible for managing the Commissioner’s team of staff and advising him on the legal functions of his role.
The Police and Crime Panel will now hold a Confirmation Hearing on Friday, April 5, when members will be given the opportunity to scrutinise the appointment and make any recommendations they feel appropriate.
Mr Peet takes over the reins from the interim chief executive Phil Harper, who previously headed up the transition project from the former Police Authority to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
