Nigel Clough gives Derby County midfielder Will Hughes confidence
WHATEVER happens to Will Hughes he will be eternally grateful to Nigel Clough.
Will says: "I wouldn't be in the position I'm in now if it hadn't been for him giving me the chance to even train with the first team, which was a massive step up for me. For him to have faith in me gives me a lot of confidence."
Asked for one word to sum up the last 12 months he says "unexpected". He said: "I could never have imagined how it has gone but I am taking nothing for granted and not letting it go to my head. I'm still not expecting my name to be on the team sheet.
"Playing football is the most important thing. When you are eight or nine and watching Match of the Day, you don't think about the money, you just want to play football."

“Good lad Will, keep that sensible head on your shoulders and continue playing your football for Derby County, I've been supporting the Rams since 1946 and you are a breath of fresh air that was badly needed at the club.
Stick with it and, along with the other promising, young players, you might give me the chance to see us back in the Premier League whilst I can still climb those ruddy stairs to my seat in the West Stand Upper.”
