NIGEL Clough says he is thrilled to see his old club, Burton Albion, sitting in the automatic promotion places in League Two.

"I would love to see them stay up there – it would be a remarkable achievement," said Clough, who led Burton to a 13-point lead at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier before taking over at Derby County in January, 2009.

They eventually secured promotion to the Football League on the last day of the season and their fourth League Two campaign is looking like it may be their most successful to date.

"They were one of the less-fancied clubs at the start of the season and, like any division, there are some big spenders in there and they are doing well to compete with them," said Clough.

"They are organised, difficult to beat.

"Similar to us, they have struggled away from home but I think getting a point at Oxford will give them a big boost because, if your home form is good, you just need the odd point on the road."
